Notice of Job Opening Brule County Highway
Brule County, South Dakota, is accepting applications for a Highway Superintendent/Weed Supervisor.
The Highway Superintendent position includes multiple duties: ability to work with the public to develop and maintain effective and positive public relations, analyzing and resolving personnel issues, responsible to prepare and maintain an annual budget, supervise, plan and coordinate activities of the employees to maintain the roads in a safe matter, coordinate road construction, prioritize work needing to be done, attend required training during the year, provide reports to the County Commissioners as requested, ability to work with contractors and engineers on projects, maintain equipment and recommendations to the County Commissioners on updates of equipment, road construction projects, etc.
The weed supervisor position oversees the control of noxious weeds in County road right of ways, prepare and maintain annual budgets, weed enforcements and the purchase, safe handling of chemical according to all laws and regulations.
Driving truck, hauling gravel, plowing snow, running heavy equipment, weed mowing, spraying and other similar tasks.
The successful applicant must live in Brule County, be a High School Graduate or higher, be willing and able to handle calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week in times of emergencies and/or inclement weather.
The applicant must have or be able to obtain a CDL, be able to obtain a SD Highway Superintendents Certification and be able to obtain a commercial applicator license.
Knowledge of maps, legal descriptions, plats, etc is desirable not required.
